This attack is different because it didn’t only attack military and nuclear assets, they deliberately went after command and control; eliminating leaders in the first attack can be a blow it takes a long time to come back from.
When a nihilistic regime has said for decades that their goal is to destroy Israel and America, then becomes the largest state sponsor of terrorism and seeks nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, it should not take 45 years to believe them. Israel did the world a favor; hopefully this indefinitely delays the satanic regime’s nuclear program or ends it completely; perhaps what remains of the leadership will understand that this conduct is not beneficial anymore, but I am not holding my breath.
“Those who don’t fight evil, hate those who do fight evil.”- Dennis Prager.
“There’s something in the western psyche, especially the western liberal, pluralistic psyche, that finds it impossible to believe that radical ideologues mean what they say. We didn’t believe communists or fascists; yet these are people who believe what they say. Attempts to moderate their behavior invariably fail; these are exercises in our heads.”- Charles Krauthammer
In light of Trump's gradual exposure as actively hostile to American interests, what else was going on in early 2018 that made us abandon our Iran nuclear agreement? The IAEA said Iran was in compliance, but Trump unilaterally quashed the deal with new oil sanctions on Iran. Who asked him to do that?
"...their ideological cocktail of Marxism...." I see nothing socialist, much less Marxist, in Iran's regime. If anything, their ideology seems more akin to fascism.
Very nice presentation. After nearly 50 years of squandering opportunity, we are also in a far weaker state for diplomacy and peace.
Their regime has been stably unstable for decades. If perhaps we had thrown ourselves into a joint effort in 1990 or 2001 to defang the crazies and suppress terrorism, with soft power, could it be better now?
Alex Vindman has pointed out that blind American idealism usually fails. The premises of the Iraq war were bumbly from the get-go.
Had anyone in the US pursued a more insightful path, what are the chances that in 2025, we might have had a better outcome?
So much respect for you! Thank you for your service

Enjoyable article. My first deployment to the Persian Gulf was in 1979. Spent the next twenty years frequently operating in and around the Gulf.
All of this would not be happening if Trump had not pulled us out of the Iran nuclear deal.
Nobody cares about Israel, we need our military veterans to stand up to Trump now. Reform our government now. We can’t wait any longer
