Tomorrow, June 3, South Korea will hold its presidential election. The stakes are high because the two main presidential candidates and their political parties have widely divergent views on defense policy, the Republic of Korea (ROK)-U.S. alliance, the threat from North Korea, and the competition with the Chinese Communist Party.
"Trump asked why it hadn’t covered 100 percent?" My humble opinion that short question explains Mr. Trump's world view. I just read Secretary of Defense Hegseth's speech to our Australian allies. Of course he demanded Australia increase their defense spending. The Trump administration is all about making a "deal!" Trump seems to have forgotten South Korea fought with us in Vietnam. Of course Mr. Trump had bonespurs and couldn't serve. ("The Impossible State" podcast by CSIS does a nice job keeping me informed about the situation in Korea, both North and South.)
